We use a UCO candle lantern which we got from Campmor several years ago . T=
he candles can also be purchased from campmor or your friendly outfitter. T=
he lantern weighs ca. 6 oz. and each candle weighs about 1.5 oz. As you can=
see, they are heavy and we can not say that the results are directly attri=
butable to the lantern or are the result of coincidence . But , my wife thi=
nks they work and she's willing to carry them . We usually hang the lantern=
directly over us . If nothing else , the soft yellow glow of the lantern c=
ompliments a fine Cognac after a long winter hike . Finally would we do thi=
s on a thru-hike ? No.
