[at-l] New Year's Eve and Day

Brought in the New Year with what turned out to be
a two mile run. Got the bubbly going at 11:45 PM,
made our noise and cheered at midnight and off we ran
to the pub two miles from my friends' house. Marni
was ultra-busy yesterday CHALKING THE ENTIRE ROUTE
with such signs as "you are almost there", "cheer
loudly", etc. Half-way during the run we found yet
another chalked sign "You are half way..time for
another toast". Josh takes out the Nalgene full of
bubbly and the six of us toasted the New Year again.
Continued on the run down Pearl St in downtown Boulder
where some startled people mainly cheered us on (with
a drunken person or two making comments about
something concerning losers. Hmm...). Made it to the
pub where a few people cheered us when they realized
how we brought in the New Year. Cool! Had my black
and tan (ah..) and listened to some live music for an
hour.

I should also mention that we ran this route festooned
in glow sticks, happy new year signs (and a cheezy
floral print shirt too, in my case) and the runner
type signs that had our numbers in the 'race' on them
ala the NYC Marathon. Yeah..we attracted some
attention...and the inquiries of a few people who want
to do it next year with us!

As I am not a runner, was a bit concerned how well I
would keep up. Esp since my friends who organized this
event have ran the NYC marathon 4 times each! But for
hiker trash, did not do too badly. All of us had a
great time, did something different and enjoyed the
company we chose to spend New Year's Eve with.

This morning went swimming..or rather jumping into
resevoir at noon. Was a bit colder than was
forecasted with some snow flurries. Would explain why
the only two people who were there for it were the two
people who organized it (Theresa and myself!). Ahem.
The ice on the resevoir may have scared off some
people too. :-)

Anyway, was a bit brisk..but woke me up. Had a great
breakfast/lunch at a local diner after the event. Lots
of HOT coffee and some really great Huevros Rancheros.
Mmm. Mmm. As with last night, the company wasn't bad,
too.

After the meal, I realized that some bastard broke
into the car and stole my camera! An Olympus Stylus
looks like a digital camera at a quick glance. Stupid
me left it on the seat, if not quite in plain view,
than easily seen enough if right next to tthe car and
looking down at the seat. They did not take anything
but the camera..looked to be a 'snatch and run'. I do
not mind the missing camera so much a losing nearly 30
pics! So no pics posted of scenic mountains (and two
people dressed for August in January when there are
snow flurries!)

Despite the bummer of this afternoon, still had a
great New Year's holiday. Good company, something
different, and lots of fun.
