Gusty and I discussed going to Springer, but ended up with a cozy night a
home with three granddaughters and two other children.  We have been on
Springer several times at New Year's.  Gutsy met Brian Robinson there when he
was beginning his triple crown quest.

We have been working on the Bartram Trail of late.  Thanksgiving week we did
the portion south of Franklin, NC.  Christmas week we did Wayah Bald to
Beechertown on the Bartram, then back to Wayah Bald on the AT.  We have 16
miles to finish up the Bartram Trail, including 11 miles from Franklin to
Wayah Bald and 5 miles from Nantahala River to Cheoah Bald.  That stretch
includes seven bridgeless crossings of a stream.  I convinced Gail that
should be done in the summer!  We woke up to snow on Christmas day, and
walked two days in snow back to Wayah Bald.  Beautiful!
