I just happened to read this proverb which I'm sure you've all heard before.
Of course, it takes on a new meaning after such a long journey.

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

Of course it's true, but I find that first single step is always more
difficult than the millions that will follow.  People talk about hiking
"someday."  If you can actually load up and ship out, then there's no turning
back and it's just a matter of following the yellow-brick road.
