That's because most trail advocacy messages are placed on AT-L -- for the
obvious reason that this is where all the people are that advocates want to
reach. The only puzzle is why anyone thought it would be otherwise.

However, I count 16 messages since Dec. 7. Seven were by RnR. Topics discussed
include Bush Administration's rules on logging. The proposed sports car raceway
in Virginia, the nature of the earth's remaining wilderness, privies in the
Smokies, trail accessibility for the handicapped, and a book by Harvard
University naturalist  E. O. Wilson called "The Future of Life." None strike me
as trivial, OB, but YMMV.

Only one involved a personal attack -- and that was on RnR, not by RnR. Some
have difficulty in recognizing the new kinder and gentler RnR -- perhaps because
he remains as passionate as ever about the trail and the importance of
protecting the trail, which are not trivial subjects to many of us.
