[at-l] Outfitters (Was something about Yahoo Groups)
If you are running up and down I-81, my condolences.
Nothing much in the way of discount hiking gear in this area, in any case.
However there is a Orvis outlet in Salem VA -- they have a shipping facility
in the area. It is hit-or-miss, as they sell discontinued/odd size/returned
items. Most of the time when I stop I just look. OTOH, I have picked up
some real deals on clothing, fishing gear, and the like there.

In the next few months I will be driving from Charleston SC to a variety of
locations - Dallas, St. Louis, Culpeper VA, Baltimore, Key West, Princeton
NJ, and others. Each will be a singular trip, i.e., out and back with a
single destination.
So, my question is....
Does anybody have a list of discount and/or outlet locations you frequent
when buying hiking gear? Do you have a favorite low cost place you know
about? I pretty much know where REI is and I can find Cabellas on their
website but I'd like to know where they sent their returned items and out of
production equipment.
If you have a favorite place - not necessarily one I'd encounter on my
trips - I'll be happy to assemble the information in one document and post
it back to the list as a resource.
