[at-l] RE: Nomad Lite poles

The main structural integrity of the tent is provided by your hiking
poles, arranged in an upside down V at the longitudinal center of the
tent. Besides that, there are other poles:

Mine came with 4 pole sections (Al sections like regular shock-corded
tent poles, tho not shock corded).

2 sections are used as "spreaders" at the two ends of the tent to keep
the sidewalls apart. Otherwise, there ain't much width there, and the
spreaders keep it nice and taught.

The other 2 sections are used for the "fly", or vestibule, or whatever
you want to call it. Joined together, they hold the fly up about 3',
making entry easier. In bad (rainy and/or windy) weather, use one
section and it keeps the weather out nicely, but can be awkward crawling
under. Or you could use no sections to really batten down the hatches.

These pole sections are optional, because you can often find sticks at
your camp to use instead. Or don't use at all, but I wouldn't recommend
this, I think the spreaders add greatly to the space at the head and
foot of the tent and keep what would be loose fabric from fluttering in
the wind. And pitching the fly "up" makes life so much easier. Plus
you could cook under it in a pinch. BTW: never cook in your tent or
vestibule, ok?

Gotta love the Nomad Lite
