The answers to frequently asked AT questions change all the time! Gear
evolves, and so do the opinions about gear. The trail gets relo'd, this pizza
joint closes, that deli opens, this shelter burns down, that shelter gets
rebuilt, old man Crocker's motor boat sinks, this water source has a dead
Moose, that spring dries up, this shuttle provider moves away, Amtrack adds a
train line to Portland, this frat house welcomes hikers, that town no longer
does, this outfitter closes, that ford gets a bridge...
I could this & that some more, but you get the picture I'm sure.
The trail is always changing. The same mile seen by a May northbounder will
not be the same mile a September southbounder sees.
