[at-l] Physical training for the trail

And by walking The Oregon Trail in 1959. At least I think that was
before her last AT hike. Too bad she didn't get a sneaker-endorsement
deal like the kid's who play jump-up.

I do. She prepared herself physically and mentally by being housewife.

Does anyone think Granny Gatewood lifted weights and did aerobics before
the
trail? Conditioning helps, but like Phil said, it's attitude that
counts
the most.

I remember hearing about a lady who ran a marathon so slow that she was
the
last to finish and she did it hours after everything was tore down.
Everyone had morl (more or less) gone home. But people started coming
back
out to cheer her own. Because, she had the attitude that she was not
finished no matter how tough and hard it was until she crossed the
finish
line.

By all means exercise (I recommend climbing stairs), but if you ain't
got
the attitude, don't even try.
