You might consider upgrading your thin long john bottoms to a pair of fleec=
e lined tights. I am not usually cold when I hike, in fact I always hike in=
 shorts until it gets to the mid 30's, btu the fleece tights are wonderful =
when you need them. It was about 30 Saturday morning when I left the car an=
d my tights were perfect. Not so heavy that they were uncomfortable but als=
o warm enough to feel good. The only time I took them off all weekend was w=
hen I spilled boiling water on my leg :)

They were a bit warm sleeping but thats cuz it warmed up to almost 40.
