[at-l] Leonids

and since I'm off on Mondays and Tuesdays, and usually pouting as everyone
else is out hiking on saturday and sunday . . . I'm going to totally enjoy
this change of the regular.

last year I took a bunch of the youth from church out - we slept out in our
sleeping bags in a farm field far from the lights, but a little too close to
the Blue Ridge (we were along the Shenandoah River) so had some of the sky
blocked off by the mountains. But still it was incredible. A very cold
night for that point in VA- our bags were frosted stiff on top. I got up at
3:00 and made hot chocolate for everyone - brought it to most of the kids
who didn't budge out of their sleeping bags. And we each looked out over a
different section of the sky and enjoyed the show. It was truly incredible.
I got to church for the 8:00 service with sleeping bag hair that day (not
the first time, and not the last). And the kids weren't against getting in
out of the cold - so didn't complain about being at the early service.

One of the other adults with me for that night is a lurker on this list -
she could testify to how incredibly wonderful the whole thing was, except
that she's a pretty quiet one, so probably won't say anything.

This year I'll most likely be doing the meteors solo. Gotta go find me a
good campsite out there.
