Eggs right out of the hen can stay fresh at 'room temperature' for about a
week.
Store bought eggs can be a month old by the time you buy them, leave those
out of the ice box and they'll spoil quick.
Hard boiled eggs will soon spoil if un-refrigerated, as most Easter Bunnies
know.
To see how fresh an egg is, break onto a flat surface. The higher the yolk,
the fresher the egg.
I don't think waxing will help keep eggs.
The usual advice here: eat your heavy/perishable grub the first day or two on
the trail.
