Much as I admire Thoreau and his role in American literature
and American history, he was in many ways an insufferable
and pompous ass.  "Walden" is a painful read, IMHO.

In many situations, caricature can convey truth more effectively
than an objective recital of facts.  Political cartoons, for example.

Or consider Art Spiegelman's "Maus" -- a documentary of his
father's experience in the Holocaust, presented in "comic book" format.
