The  best solution I've found in 60+ years of experimentation is a loose pair of
cotton shorts with no underwear underneath.

The  rash  seems to be caused by heat, moisture and a lack of ventilation. Loose
cotton  is  almost  as  good  and a bit less frightening to those we meet on the
trail than Shanes' more "naked" solution.
