[at-l] Going Hiking

Seems to be contagious. We're heading out too. Tomorrow morning we head for
the airport and fly to Billings, to start a new adventure. It has been a
long dry spell. Weekends just aren't the same as getting into the
backcountry for an extended period of time. Only two and a half weeks this
time, but better than nothing. I read the guidebook and couldn't make up my
mind on only one trail, so we're hiking on a dozen trails -- and a few
non-trails. We're kind of playing tourist - sampling three different parts
of the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness. A four day loop to start, then five
days wandering from lake to lake on an above treeline plateau , then six
days over ridge and down the valley in a completely different area that is
supposed to be good grizzly habitat. We'll let you know when we get back how
it went -- if we get back. But right now I am so excited I'm flying off the
walls. After two very long years in the city, we're finally going back to
play with the bears, the moose, the elk and the mountain goats. Halleluiah!
