She apparently thinks that the distance is 1 mile per second.  I used to
think that too.  It's not.  It's 1 fifth of a mile per second.  A one
second delay is roughly 1000 *feet* away.  Obviously she survived.  Maybe
it's better she didn't know that at the time.
