[at-l] Re: need AT information

> Any recommendations on one of the better scenic routes on the AT?

I know of two routes on the AT: (1) the road more traveled is northbound ak=
a nobo and (2) the road
less traveled is southbound aka sobo; a guy named Feeelix is the aficiondo =
and gourmand of the
road less traveled; lots of people are aficiondos and gourmands of the road=
 more traveled. Feelix
is sometimes accompanied by a stoat or a ferret, depending on whether his p=
odner talks. When the
ferret speaks he calls it a stoat. Listen to Stoat. http://www.abdn.ac.uk/m=
ammal/stoat.htm ;-)

Although I have neither aficiondo nor gourmand qualification or licensure, =
I don't like tents and
carry but a tarp and hammock, finding them lighter and cheaper than tents, =
and site selection
along the trail more flexible than tents. One presumably could ditch the ha=
uled shelter altogether
(but, please, not whilst you're on the trail) and hike between shaques foun=
d along and off the
trail, often called "shelters" or "lean twos". These have permanent residen=
t mice and you cannot
count on the qualities of your sheltermates, but you can usually count on f=
inding a sheltermate.

a Sensawondah ... you can't buy it anywhere I know about and its generally =
priceless, i.e., free
for the taking if you want one ...

lamb curry and a flask of burbon

=3Dl will take you to the southern
terminus on Springer Mountain and you can pan generally north east for abou=
t 2000 miles or so from
there ...
