[at-l] RE: black bear attack in NY

A believe that a nuisiance bear that stays around campsites/picnic areas is
usually relocated and a bear that attacks is shot. The phrases we use
around people that think bears are cute are: "A fed bear is a dead bear"
and "Feed a bear, kill a bear". These bears and alligators that attack
humans are almost *always* bears or alligators that have been fed by humans
and have lost some or all of their natural fear of them. Joe Camper can go
out and leave food around the campsite, attract a bear or two after he
leaves, and then have the bear return looking for more when *I'm* camping
there!!

As for all this Gator and Vol stuff - it must be really tough to be looking
up at Auburn!! :-) War Eagle!!

I could be 100% wrong on this, but isn't it SOP (in Parks, and perhaps
beyond) to frequently give grizzlies a pass after they attack people? Sort
of a variation of the "Boys will be boys" kind of thing.

I don't think there was any choice but to kill the bear in this case though.
