Russ, I would treat your hike like a conventional thru. Start at
Springer in april and hike north. Hiking north from Boiling Springs in
April will be a lonely hike. You won't meet very many long distant
hikers on the AT that time of year. If you start at Springer you may
just keep going when you get to Boiling Springs and make a thru-hike of
