[at-l] Question

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. I've had nothing but the most positive
experiences with Jan, both onlist and on trail. I'd go out of my way to
hike with her again. And I think she also is one of the best writers I've
come across online (at least in terms of these quick type of trip reports).
I find that her reports go beyond just a "we hiked this far and camped at
this place" type of report. Her writing takes me inside her hike a bit
further. I appreciate that when I'm not out there doing the hiking myself.

As to download speed - I think lots of us are still on the slower lines.
I've wished for something else, especially now that I've got a faster
computer, but it just doesn't seem to be a possibility. I do find it
quicker to download this kind of thing than to try to get through to various
web sites by using the links. Now *that* can be frustratingly slow! And
because I can download the stuff, I can then also disconnect from the
internet before I read it all - getting my one phone line back for those
trying to call me. I know that all our setups work a bit differently - the
age and speed of our own computer, the connection speed we have available,
the reliability of our ISP.
