[at-l] Scott Okuda - What you need to bring.

Just to add another voice, there can be a number of definitions for a
"successful completion" of a thru hike. Some complete their thru hike
within a few days, learning something about themselves and their
preparation that precludes spending months on the trail. Others have
many years of "success" via section hiking a week or two at a time.
Others become bored with the walk and find their priorities change from
the time they considered a thru hike and the time that they find
themselves seeking a ticket to home.

The most important thing to bring with you to the trail terminus is
your brain with a positive attitude. This will allow you to resolve the
problems that the trail presents, problems never considered while
surfing the web or reading journals.
