[at-l] Dehydrator

american havestor
think its called 'snackmaster'?

whichever the name, make sure its the one w/ the temp gauge setting where
you say how hot you want it based on what you are drying...

you may not think it makes a diff - but it does, a HUGE one...

i had their cheapy model and a friend the good one. I borrowed her's to
help prep for hiking. put bags of frozen veggies on both of ours at the
same time, hers finished in a hours, mine took to the next day. her's were
better color, mine looked washed out. I swear I could taste a difference
when I used them...

also, tomatoe sauces tend to burn easily, the temp gauge helps prevent this
and keeps flavor high.

Campmor sells them, so does Wal-mart and often the Price Club / Costco /
Sams Club type stores.

Please tell me what model and make of dehydrator to buy. Pllleeeaase! BTW,
7 short months from today I step off of Springer (onto the trail that is).
I became the proud owner of a Wally World Grease Pot yesterday. I tried to
tell the checkout lady "all about it" and she just gave me a funny look,
like I was some kinda kook.

I received an e-mail from an American Native, Cherokee, this morning. As a
Hospice Nurse I had taken care of her mother. They had just returned from
spreading her ash remains. Here is an excerpt from her letter that I
thought worth sharing with all of you:

Dear Ted,
Now you are just so kind to have done that for us. How ironic that it is
the BEST book around. Lisle told me that he read it years ago, but I never
have. So thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I will read it for
sure. I would love to have your mailing address if you don't mind.
Now I must tell you that our trip went so well. We didn't place her along
the trail you will walk. Creator led us to a river bank. It was a pull off
right after Smokemont Campground. The river was gorgeous so we felt perfect.
We noticed a path that led away from the usual spot everyone would stop and
see. There was a tree on the river bank with a single rock underneath. We
felt strong that this was for her. I moved the rock and Lisle sprinkled her
ashes on the top of the earth, and I placed the rock back as it was. We
prayed at that time then Lisle played Amazing Grace on his flute. I know mom
s wishes were carried out, she wanted her ashes to be scattered in a
beautiful place. Although I didn't scatter them. I felt sprinkled on the
earth, and the rock covering them to be more respectful.
Okay, when you are on your trail.... and you pass by the Clingmans Dome,
you may feel something strong there. I stood on the top of that and prayed
that God would see you safely on your journey through his beautiful
mountains. I walked a bit of the trail when we came down, and had in my mind
that you would be on that tract next year. I will keep you strongly in my
prayers the whole time too. We both like to hike, but the most we have gone
is 9 miles through the Ocala National Forest. We were beat at the end of
that day. So my heart goes out to you for the trail will be much longer then
that. You will be able to relate to the Natives that walked the Trail of
Tears I am sure.
