[at-l] What I Like to Think I Would Do

If I lived within 50 miles or so of the AT today, I would not like to think 
that I would be hiking in the heat that the Weather Channel paints red-orange 
today all over the East.  

If I lived within 50 miles or so of the AT today, I would like to think that 
this morning I would be behind the wheel of my air-conditioned car, driving 
to dry-area trailheads within my reach, leaving new 1/2-gallon bottles of 
water for those who needed them-- just up the trail and off in the shade.  
Then I'd like to think that I would spend the other half of this hot, hot, 
dry day, picking up the empties to refill and redistribute them tomorrow if I 
could.

I'll bet that some of you are doing just that.  Meanwhile, I work feverishly, 
trying to prepare for the arrival of my family this Thursday, way up here in 
the mountains of Colorado, but always thinking about "next year," you know 
where.  

We're going to get up to the low 90s, and our air is filled with smoky haze 
from the nearby fires.  This too will pass.

Happy Fourth of July!  No fireworks around here.
