Try Measuring Cup (was) RE: [at-l] Grease Pot

I actually sit a fry pan, a lid from something else, etc. on top. Indoor I
add some kind of weight to the fry pan, lid, etc. (ice, water, a cast iron
skillet, etc.). Outdoors you could try a rock, etc.

Also, I suspect you could find a reasonable fit lid at a yard sale, flea
market, etc. from some old kitchen wear. And if you can find a frypan-lid
to a camping set, that would probably work. Might even be able to use it to
keep something warm or to heat something up.

I've even used a stainless steel bowl (also from Wally World) filled with
water as a lid. And then heated the bowl for some hot jello or tea.

I suspect that a measuring cup would have one advantage over a grease can.

The top of the grease cans (which I have seen) are rolled inwards w/ an open
gap to catch food and breed baddies. OTOH, measuring cups have a top edge
that is rolled outwards and a lot easier to keep clean.

I have never seen measuring cup w/ a lid, however. OTOH, I cut weight on
one of my pots by making a lid out of aluminum flashing, to replace the
lid/frying pan, which weighed too much. So, a measuring cup w/ a homemade
lid may well be in my future.
