[at-l] DEET replacement

It would be unusual to find DEET that would damage you clothing and
glasses. Perhaps if you purchase 100% DEET, there would be some damage, but
that form of DEET is pretty difficult to apply in any case. The appropriate
use of DEET is usually less than 30%, sparingly applied, although often
applied with sunscreens. You are much more likely to have allergic
reactions and rashes from fragrances in the sunscreen than from DEET, but
again this is something you should check for yourself before going out of
doors.

I wear glasses, a watch, poly shirts, rayon, and all the other synthetic
materials common to our sport. I haven't found the problem you anticipate,
at least in the real world.

Now if you are absolutely opposed to wearing DEET on your face, consider
the investment in long sleeves, pant legs, gaitors, and a head net to
cover your sun hat. You could put DEET on areas such as hands and near
pants openings. You could prepare early by applying Permathrine to your
clothing.
