The third place entry "The Sawyer's Wife" was very much worth reading, IMO.  
To me, it speaks to the power of the Trail to bring something out of us that 
might otherwise lay dormant.

Basically her entry was about how she found the resolve to hike the trail 
with her two adolecent children, while her husband ran the family business 
back home.  Few people in her shoes would have even dared to dream the 
dream, much less do live it.

Hiking the Trail as I did at 23, single and with no established career was 
so frickin' easy compared to how some folks do it!  If they gave medals...

I was impressed to say the least.
