Welcome to the list, and hopefully the campfire can relight without further 
ado.

You might want to let us know about your prior experiences with boots and 
sock options, how much you plan to carry, any foot problems, and how 
competent local outfitters have been for you. Fitting boots is far more 
than making a fashion statement or going for certain brands. Finding a good 
competent person to fit your feet in the appropriate boot is hard to do. 
You are going in the correct direction if you have made decisions about 
socks, as you should wear the socks you plan while you are fitted.
