At marathons there are two kinds of 'pit stops' (you don't actually stop, 
you slow down and grab as you go by).  One is the water/cytomax group the 
other is the vaseline station.  There is also a stick lubricant (packaged 
like stick deodorant) that is designed to be very slick.  I've never tried 
it but Road Runner Sports carries it and I'm sure other runner's suppliers 
do too.

As for underwear I prefer it to underware.  :-)  Another runner's thing to 
try is the stretch shorts.  They are basically a shorts version of tights 
and cover about half way down the thigh which is all the area that is prone 
to chafe.  I can attest that they work great running.
