GO LIGHT. You're not going to want 6# of pack on your back.

Subject: [at-l] Backpacks
Greetings,
I've recently joined this email group and have found it useful and
interesting so far. I am hopefully going to attempt a southbound thru
hike
next year. I've read a few thru journals with gear lists and read some
reviews/articles on packs. Any suggestions on how many I should look at
before buying one? My only experience is with Adventure Racing packs so
I
am not sure how it is supposed to feel. I tried a Dana Design regular
longbed (external). It felt good with 35 pounds in it. The retailer
suggested I try on at least 3-4 before I purchase one. I can do this
but
was wondering if I would just know when I found the pack for me. In my
mind, it will be hard to know if I have found the right one until I get
several miles of use out of it. Suggestions or thoughts on purchasing a
pack?
Thanks,
Brandi
