If  I had a month available this summer, I would start at Gorham, N.H. and go to
Katahdin.

I've  done  it  all  several times. But no hike is ever the same. I would advise
carrying  a  tent.  The  trail  in Maine is very busy -- or at least the lean-to
shelters are busy -- during the summer.

It's roughly 300 miles at 10 miles a day.
