Thanks for the info. I'm going to see if any beerpubs or stores carry them
down here. I'm an ol' Guiness and Coors man (from when they refused to
allow it to be sold outside a limited area). But if it don't kill me, I'm
willing to give it a try. And after your email, I did some searching and
found some comments that made a "Katahdin Red Ale" seem good.
Kind of inline with this thought about beer, I dreamed awhile back about The
AT and it had a Rip Van Winkleish theme. The "bowlers" served me some
homemade wine. Each one had a nametag on with the trail name of a list
member and looked like what I imagined members of the list looked like --
except Trollish. And they made wine the old fashioned way -- they stomped
the "hike" out of the grapes. I won't say who did the stomping. ;-)

I would want that beer, too.
There are a couple Katahdin beers on the market though. One is a stout, I
think. I recall another having a picture of a couple moose with the
mountain in the background on the label.
