[at-l] hiking suggestions





Hi All,
Lurker checking in: I sent my contribution to ATC for May.=20

A friend who is new to backpacking and I are planning to take a six day =
trip to somewhere on the southern end of the trail next week, maybe =
Virginia.  Any suggestions for spectacular scenery, good parking place, =
and/or shuttles, so that she will want to continue backpacking.  She and =
I have base camped and day hiked for years, but she wants to backpack =
now.

Basic equipment includes:
Kelty Redcloud internal packs
REI Half Dome 2 person tent
Down sleeping bags, each under 3 lbs. Mine is FF, don't remember the =
name of hers. waterproof stuff sacks for each
1- 3/4 Thermarest, 1 closed cell pad
Peak One stove and cooking pot
First Need water filter, polar pure backup
Platypus 1 liter water bags, each
Leki hiking poles (new, haven't used them yet, always used wooden poles =
before.
existing rain gear
Princeton lights
Thorlo socks
Raichle boots (mine), Vasque (hers)
2 bandanas each
Cameras and pouches for each.

Suggestions please.
