pittsburgh 100pm 05/03/02

i am in van support mode, again with yakdung and granny, in the shenandoahs.  yesterday they entered the park and hiked from swift run gap to bearfence hut.  they were greated by a slam bang thunderstorm, and they got very wet...

granny has her dog, brutus, with her this hike.  brutus is a novice trail dog, and is doing very well.  he hasn't yet figured out what the hell is going on, but he seems to be adjusting just fine...

i met the ladies early today and relieved them of their packs.  they will be slacking during the day, and packing in/out of shelters.  a young lady thru-hiker had some developing foot pain, and was limping her way to thornton gap so that she could get to the post office in luray, where new boots were awaiting.  i kidnapped her, and got her to her shoes a day or two early.  she is very happy...

i'm presently waiting for the ladies at big meadows, where we will be having lunch...
