[at-l] The Holiest Springer Approach

I think you omitted the "purest" and certainly the "coolest" if not
"holiest" approach ever done: That by Robie "Jumpstart" Hensley on March 9,
1986, who parachuted from a small plane and landed close to the plaque
marking the start of the trail. Family members were waiting on top of
Springer with his backpack.

(Would that make him a slackpacker parachuter?)

I never heard if he was picked up on Katahdin by helicopter. Anyone
know?(Probably the Baxter rangers would have objected. BTW: It's always
better to apologize than to ask permission! As Nike says"Just do it".)

If you're not up to this method, try one of the ground routes.

(See Larry Luxenberg's "Walking the Appalachian Trail" for this and numerous
other great stories.)
