Shane,
I had my first exposure to the AT in March and was hooked! A
friend and I hiked 25 miles from Sam's Gap to Erwin. We really
pushed it hard and the next day I could hardly move just like the Tin
Man. I had struggled with wanting to have a trail name but nothing
seemed to fit. I was kind of partial to 'Dances With Gold Bond'.
That one was close but no cigar. The day we came off the trail was
St Pattys' day and we celebrated with a couple of new trail friends -
Rambling John, Kat& Piggy - at Applebees where they 'annexed' a
beer glass for me because I drove them into town for lunch. Kat
asked what I did for a living and I told her I am an air traffic
controller. She and Piggy asked if the job was anything like the
movie Pushing Tin to which I said yes... exactly... except for the part
about Angilina Jolie and Kate Blanchett. (sigh)
Anyway, these things all came together along with the overall
searching for something important during hiking and Tin Man just
sort of chose me. I really could not move for two days after coming
home. Oil!
Tin Man

Did you play Over the Rainbow at the funeral? What do you play? I
remember watching Oz on a black & white Philco every year. I still
love it!
