As a child, I remember my mom preparing a meal of banner sausage(?) and
rice. It smelled terrible but did cause gnats to all collect in one place -
your plate. So much for gnat repellant. :-)  That was in the tobacco fields
of NC (back when it was politically correct to grow the crop.)
