I agree and I did not intend my last post to stereotype all hikers.  Far
from it.

I know and have met some great folk on the trail.

That said, I stand by my opinion that there has been an increase in exposure
to risk, dishonesty, and just plain boorishness among trail folk -- albeit
the percentage may well be much smaller that the population at large, it
appears to be growing.
