[at-l] hammock question

I'm going to be using my Hennessy for the first time on the trail in a
couple of weeks.  I'll be headed north from Springer starting on April 13,
and getting off wherever I am two weeks later (which, according to "plans"
will be NOC - but who ever hikes "plans"??)

Took the hammock to the park a couple of days ago to practice setting it up.
I hoped that after that, I could come back and make some sense of some of
those posts last week about set up knots, biners, etc.

Anyway, one of the guylines for the tarp portion wasn't there, so yesterday
I went to the trail store and bought some wonderful light line from their
climbing section.  Nice bright yellow too - since I always walk into the
dark lines.

The question:  do the tie outs of the hammock itself need to be elastic?  I
would love to replace those black "lines" too, but suspect that the swing of
the hammock needs the elastic to keep from damaging the hammock itself.  Am
I correct about that?
