[at-l] Signing Off....

Well. The apartment looks like Brlin after the bombardment. Actually,
it looks like a cross between REI, a going outta business sale at a bad
Army-Navy store, a fire sale at Campmor, and Tora Bora after it was hit with
nine bunker busters. Gettin' kinda hard to navigate in there, so I came out
for some air.

Next step is to haul 44 boxes of junk to the barn for storage, and the
trick is to pick out the right boxes. Otherwise, I'll end up storing all my
trip stuff and mailing out junk, which leads to fun things like arriving in
Fontana Dam, tearing open a carton, and discovering no food or cigarettes,
but instead finding 30 copies of A.T. Trailway news, 3 non-functioning
whisperlites, 2 smelly leg braces, 6000 photos of Central Virginia, and a
five-year old Playboy.

Ah, well. The last one might come in handy.

Actually, things are winding down fairly well. Catching the morning train
outta White River, VT, then down to Philadelphia to rendezvous with Trail
Angel extraordinaire Bag 'O Trix, who has amazingly offerred to take me all
the way to Georgia. Boy, is HE gonna be sorry about that. Hope he likes
Springsteen....

Hoping to start out on April Fool's Day, which seems perfectly appropriate
for the seventh and LAST go-round; sure hope the rain and thunder have
stopped by the time I get there.

Anyways, just wanted to say thanx to Ryan, again, for supplying us with
such a great place to camp, had some good times here this fall and winter.
Very best to my friends this year, best wishes for a safe and happy hiking
season, and very best wishes of all to those starting after me, and also
those whose departure is further on down the trail, 2003, 2006, whatever.
Someday you'll get there, and believe me, it's worth it. Anyway, gotta fly,
see ya down the line somewhere.....

"Two paths diverged in the woods.....

I took the one with white blazes.

... and that made all the difference."

                                        --Jack Tarlin, with apologies to
Robert Frost!
