Bryson is an expert of the narrative - not a backpacker who decided to
write a true account of his/her experiences on The Trail. He's stories
are written to appeal to the heart, not give advice to someone looking
to thru-hike. Enjoy the literature as it is meant to be read, don't
spend hours researching some of his statements.
