It's pretty heavy but I like it for first aid for dog issues as well,
being a cool weather hiker.  I use a sportsmen's blanket.
The kind that is either red or blue on one side and silver
on the other.  I still haven't gone for a really good bag and
often am pushing my bag's limits and the limits of my dogs
so I like having the heat reflecting bennies of it and we
set it out at breaks if it's muddy so they can lay on it as well
and stay a little cleaner and drier.  I did find a lighter
version at a closeout once....can't quote the weights on
either one off hand but the new one is IIRC 20% lighter.
It's orange instead of blue or red.....REALLY ORANGE!
I'm saving it for my thru...gotta save those ozs. <g>
