Because calling it Rhode "Small, Crowded" State is too
long to put on a license plate.. :D

But, being the history buff that I am, do know why it
was called Rhode Island. Verazzano, the first European
to explore the area extensively, thought what is now
called Narragansett bay, looked much like the area
around the Island of Rhodes...

Two days later, the first tacky t-shirt shop was put
up that also sold quaint coastal New England
knick-knacks (made in Taiwan), along with the arrival
of the hordes of people blanket to blanket on a beach
with boom boxes miraculously all playing 1000
different songs.....

Mags, who does not miss the ocean, or rather the
crowded beaches near them....
