Shane, in an earlier episode of this ongoing thread, someone,
Turtle (?) told of a recent hike on which his buddy fell ill with
appendicitis.  One of them had a cellphone which was used
to facilitate a rescue and the guy reached medical care just
in time.  The doctor credited the man's recovery to the rapid
(not instant, it took hours) extraction.
The opponent of cellphones stood by his guns which left
many of us aghast and wondering if he would stand before
the man's family and tell them that for the sake of the
illusion of wilderness, the man should have died.
