[at-l] DEET Alternative.

Chemicals are scary. Okay. If there are problems with DEET, it appears
that they are so delayed and longterm as to be undetectable for several
decades.

Lyme disease is rare, and chronic Lyme disease doesn't kill people but
appears to make a number of them pretty chronically ill and disabled.
Acute Lyme disease has some risk for myocarditis and sudden death.
Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever is from a different tick, much more common
south of Harper's Ferry and can kill within a few hours or days.

Nile Fever is pretty uncommon, usually only killing the elderly. There
are other relatives to this disease such as St. Louis Equine
Encephalitis that regularly kills or brain injures a few dozen to a few
hundred people every year.

Eveything is making choices and making gambles. If you choose against
DEET or permetherine (spelling is wrong), I suspect that you sometimes
will draw to an inside straight.
