Yes, I have a contact allergy for wool. It's not severe, but I can't wear the usual wool sweater or socks without a liner of some sort. I haven't had any problem with the SmartWool long underwear or socks.
Fur - I love fur. There is nothing as blissful as cold weather camping sleeping in a pile of fur.
