Why I like GORP (was )RE: PowerBars vs... Re: [at-l] GORP

I like GORP because I can eat it by the handfuls or one piece by one piece.
This is handy when marching into town or some place that has a GREAT MEAL!
That way I can starve off the "hungries".  If I start nibbling on a POWERBAR
or some other brand bar, I end up eating the whole thing.  Granted that GORP
usually does not have the "nutritional" value of diet/nutrition bars, but it
tastes better (usually) and it allows me to starve off the hungries while
leaving more room for a really good meal.  Also, it can be added to plain
rice better than a nutrition bar can.

Disputandem, right? If we're talking facts, Powerbars are
heavier for the calories carried, and contain MUCH less sodium,
potassium, and dietary fiber. I did the calculations four years
ago and, wanting Powerbars to win, was very disappointed. I
still buy my Powerbars by the case, but it's GORP that hits the trail.
