 No puddles, but the problem was the same, the trail gradually widened, and
 hikers trampled many acres of fragile high elevation plants, a few of which are
 found no place else south of arctic regions.

 Signs asked hikers to keep to the footpath. So many refused to do so, thinking
 only of their enjoyment, not the trails future or the enjoyment of future
 hikers, that the trail is now an unnatural walled trail.

 Not ideal. But maintainers had no other way to deal with unthinking selfish
 hikers.
