[at-l] Transporting stoves, travel to Knoxville airport

I asked these questions of my local postal counter worker here in New Jersey
last spring and he kinda shrugged and said as long as it has been "flushed
out" and doesn't smell of gas at all, he would send it USPS GROUND. He did
ask me to write "ORM-D", damned if I know what that acronym stands for, on
the outside of the package to make sure it went ground. I got the package
without fail or problem when I arrived in California. It did take 11 days
however to traverse our great nation. Probably on a donkey or some similar
mode of transport

At the time I did look in the postal manual online and it prohibits
gasoline type fuels from being sent in ANY quantity through the mail
however. But it does not specifically prohibit used containers or devices.

 I would:

          1) Flush them really, really well
          2) Package it up tight, no rattling around!!
          3) Write ORM-D on it
          4) Ask at as many postal counters as it takes to get somebody to
take it.

I believe you will be acting within the spirit, if not the letter, of the
regulations. Hey, that's what I did. YMMV.

   Ed
