Sightings...

Miss Janet's House opened to a nice group of college students setting out to hike for Spring break and two frozen Thru-hikers calling themselves the PA Posse.  Two more section hikers joined us on Saturday and we had a great weekend!  I also met Blue Vist who is a Trailjournals journalist this year and we all had a great dinner at Outback!  Today we made trips to the Orthopedic specialists, Mahoneys Outfitters and on to Dennis Cove.  We stopped in to visit at Laurel Creek Lodge and talked to Fausa...AT2000 who will be running the place this year.  They are open and will be fully operational in a few days.  Then on to Kincora where I saw the very last, he is sure of it, year 2001 Southbounder by the name of BO!  What a busy weekend!  THANK YOU  to everyone on the list that has encouraged me, helped me made donations and prayed for me! This is going to be a great year!  I hope you all get to come and visit. 

Searches...

Carter County High Mountain Rescue and Unaka Mountain Search and Rescue were called out this afternoon to search for a college student that had gone out for the weekend and failed to return to where his car was parked on 19E by this afternoon... It was only a communications problem and this hiker does not know he was the object of search mission.  But it does make the point that it is very important that you leave an itenerary with someone when you are section hiking.... and maybe with whoever is looking after your car!  I knew where the group was hiking and we were able to call off the search as soon as the authorities were notified that his group was not expected to end thier section for several days.  

So, I am off to Neals Gap early in the morning to pick up a fellow lister and I hope to see a few others here and there!
