[at-l] Is this true?

It is first come, first served and thru-hikers don't "by right" have any
special privileges. But....since you should always hike with some form of
personal shelter, it might be considered polite to give up your space to
a long distance hiker. You may wish to exercise this option because some
feel that packing up from a shelter is quicker and easier. This might
make the long distance hikers stay a little more comfortable. But since
all hikers should carry there own minimum shelter, this is entirely up to
you and should not be something that is expected. You may also find that
in poor weather you may need to give your space to the stupid and poorly
prepared, but perhaps Darwin's Law and gene pool cleansing might be more
appropriate. :-) But no matter what, carry some form of shelter. As
always YMMV.
